Gathering eggs
Ready for the Farmers Market
Ready to sell some veggies
Checking out the tractors at the Oldtime Farm Festival in Centerburg.Granddaughter Kaylyn came to visit for the weekend. She has a good time visiting and really helps out around here. She likes to gather eggs, herd the ducks, boss the dogs and keep Grandpa in line!
We sold what we think is the last of our surplus at the farmers market this weekend and did alright by newbie standards. We unloaded most of our surplus veggies with the exception of hot peppers, people either love them or really don't like them. We sold some habeniero to a man that did not want to touch them. We tried to convince him the danger is in the cutting but he still didn't want to touch them. We just put them in a bag and sent him on his way. We would like to get a chile roaster and try to sell roasted chile next year but that may be a bit much for the town of Mount Vernon to handle. The locals are still trying to get used to the sushi bar in the local Kroger! We are going to look into some fall offerings for next year since our garden is played out this year. We had a good frost last night so I will have to assess the damage this morning.
Fall is just around the corner, I can smell the beginnings of it in the air, the nights are getting cooler, Ray is growing his winter beard (I love it!) and the chickens are slowing down a bit. All sure signs of the changing seasons!
