Summers last hooray

We had a great time over the weekend, and it all happened in a very happenstance kind of way.
First off, we had Elizabeth fly in for the weekend from Chicago...my girl is certainly becoming a seasoned traveler..at the ripe old age of 8! Anyway, I got to thinking about this being the last of the summertime visits and how she hadn't had much time with her cousins since they moved to Findlay...so I invited son #1 and family to come on down for a nice family cookout. Son #2 happened to call up saying his girlfriend had Saturday off and could they come down for a visit to which I replied "great...your nieces and nephews will be here anyway...let's make it a party". Son #3, being our little punkin's daddy, was planning on staying the weekend anyway so that made all of my boys here at the same time, which is kind of a rare happening. This got me to thinking about the last time their Grandma had a chance to see my kid's and grandkids, so we invited Mom to join, which naturally included my sister Mary since mom doesn't drive. This also got me thinking about my boys Grandma on their fathers side and how she hadn't seen her grandsons/great-grandkids in a while, so she was also invited. So, from a small weekend with E the party morphed into a Summer Party...just in time for back to school, end of summer, etc. We had a great time;we played games, the kids got to splash around in the little pool, we ate some good summer fair (corn from the garden, burgers and dogs, brats, fruit, pie, some summer salads) and had a good visit with the family. Nice way to end the summer.

And now, just because we care, pics from the day...

cheers :)
