mater time!

we have tomatoes going strong right now...lots and lots of tomatoes. All of the time we spent worrying over the past month was a complete waste of time, the tomatoes knew what they were doing all along! We have quite a few different varieties and we're using what we can fresh and putting the rest up for winter. Last year I tried slow roasting the cherry tomatoes and this worked out so well that I'm using this as the main preservation method for this year. They have to be frozen but we have a chest freezer that has been cleared out and is ready to take on all this tomato goodness. We have fresh basil, garlic and onions to add to the mix...so good! The days are definitely getting shorter and with all of this tomato business I feel fall creeping ever closer. This is always bittersweet for me, I enjoy fall so much but I know it inevitably leads to that end of year season...you know what I'm talking about.
But I digress...back to the present and all of those tomatoes!

Hope you all are enjoying what is left of summer; get in one more dip in the water, alfresco dining, late night stroll and hammock reading time before fall settles in.

cheers
